About these terms

Together Off Grid is a matchmaking service for people pursuing homesteading, off grid and self reliant living. It is run by [Company legal name], [Registered business address] (“we”, “us”).

These terms, together with the community guidelines below and our Privacy Policy, are the agreement between you and us. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who can join

  • You must be 18 or older. We check your date of birth at sign up and you confirm your age when you accept these terms.
  • The service is open to people in the United States only at launch.
  • One account per person. Shared, duplicate and business accounts are not allowed.
  • You may not join if we have previously banned you, or if you are joining on behalf of someone who was banned.

Your account and verification

  • You confirm a real email address and a mobile number you own. The number is checked with a one time code sent by text message.
  • Your phone number and email address are never shown to other members. They are only passed to a match if you both reach the contact step and you choose to share them.
  • Keep your sign in details to yourself. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • The information you give us, including your date of birth and location, must be true. Your profile must describe you, and your photos must be of you.
  • Some members may choose an optional ID verification badge. It is never required to join.

We may ask you to verify again, or limit your account while we check it, if something does not add up.

The reveal ladder and consent

Inside the service you appear as an avatar and a handle. Photos are hidden by default, you choose whether to show any on your profile, and your contact details stay private. Hidden photos and contact details are shared only when you and a match both agree, one step at a time:

  • Matched. A mutual like opens the door. You see each other’s avatar, handle, values profile and match score.
  • Talking. You can message. Phone numbers, email addresses, links and social handles are removed from every message before it is delivered.
  • Faces. Your hidden photos open only when one of you asks and the other accepts, and then in both directions at once.
  • Contact. A separate yes from both of you. Each of you chooses whether to share an email address or a phone number.

Either of you can change your mind before the other agrees. Each step is recorded so we can investigate if something goes wrong. Once something is shared we cannot take it back from the other person, so only move forward when you are ready.

Community guidelines

This community runs on trust. Every member makes four promises:

  • Be who you say you are. One account per person, your real age, your own photos.
  • Respect the reveal. Never ask for contact details or photos before someone offers them.
  • Never ask for money. Requests for money, gifts, loans, crypto or investments lead to a permanent ban.
  • Report what feels wrong. Reports are reviewed by a person, and reporters stay anonymous.

Not allowed

  • Fake profiles, impersonation, or photos that are not of you, including AI generated images.
  • Anyone under 18, or photos that include a minor.
  • Nudity, sexual content, violence, gore, weapons shown in a threatening way, or hate symbols.
  • Phone numbers, emails, links, social handles or QR codes placed in photos or profile text to get around the reveal ladder.
  • Harassment, threats, stalking, or pressure to move faster than someone wants.
  • Hate speech or abuse aimed at anyone’s race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or national origin.
  • Scams, selling, advertising, recruiting, or promoting other services.
  • Sharing another member’s photos, messages or details outside the service without their permission.
  • Scraping, automation, or any attempt to get around our security or a ban.

Moderation and enforcement

Photos

Every photo you upload is screened automatically before anyone can see it. Anything borderline goes to a human moderator. Photos that break these guidelines are declined and never shown. Approved photos you keep hidden stay hidden until you and a match both agree to reveal them.

Reports

You can report a member from their profile or a conversation. A person reads every report. The member you report is not told who reported them.

What we may do

  • Remove a photo or profile text.
  • Give a warning.
  • Suspend an account while we look into something.
  • Ban an account permanently. Asking for money is always a permanent ban.

To stop banned members coming back, we compare phone numbers, devices and payment cards against banned accounts. We may act on reports, screening results or our own review, and we may act without notice where someone’s safety is at risk.

Appeals

If you think we got a decision wrong, email [Contact email] from the address on your account, with your handle and what happened. A person will review it and reply by email.

Meeting safely

We verify an email address and a mobile number for every account, but we do not run criminal background checks, and we cannot promise how any member will behave. Take your time, meet in a public place, tell someone you trust where you are going, and never send money to someone you have met online.

If you are in danger, call 911 first, then report the member to us.

Memberships, billing and cancellation

Joining is free. A free account can take the quiz, build a profile, send 3 likes a day, match, and reply once a paid match reaches out.

Paid memberships let you start conversations and add the other paid benefits described on How it works:

  • Homestead, $19.99 USD a month
  • Hearth, $29.99 USD a month
  • Legacy, $49.99 USD a month

How billing works

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Memberships renew automatically each month until you cancel. The price and renewal date are shown before you pay.
  • If a renewal payment fails, your account moves to free until the payment goes through. Your matches and conversations are kept.
  • If we change a price, we will tell you before it applies to your next renewal.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your account, which opens Stripe’s secure portal. Your membership continues to the end of the month you have paid for, then your account returns to free. Deleting your account cancels any open membership first.

Refunds

[Refund policy and any state specific cancellation rights, to be confirmed by counsel]. To ask about a refund, email [Contact email]. If a membership payment is refunded in full, that membership ends when the refund is issued.

Your content

You own the photos, profile text and messages you add. You give us permission to store them and show them to other members inside the service, only as your settings and the reveal ladder allow, for as long as your account is open. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Pausing, blocking and leaving

  • Pause your profile from settings to stop appearing to anyone. Matches are kept for when you return.
  • Block or unmatch anyone at any time. They will not be able to see or message you.
  • Delete your account from settings. We cancel any open membership in Stripe first, then remove your profile, photos and messages. Some safety and legal records are kept, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
  • We may close an account that breaks these terms, as described under moderation.

Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to keep the service safe and running, but it is provided as it is, and we cannot guarantee it will always be available or free of errors, or that you will find a match.

[Disclaimer and limitation of liability wording, to be provided by counsel]

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [Governing law state] and applicable United States federal law. If you have a problem, please email [Contact email] first so we can try to put it right.

[Dispute resolution terms, to be confirmed by counsel]

Changes and contact

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect, and ask you to accept the new version. We record which version you accepted and when.

Questions about these terms: [Contact email], [Company legal name], [Registered business address].
